A family drama series featuring two episodes with deaf characters learning American Sign Language (ASL): In “Silent Promises” (S6E17, 1980), schoolgirl Laura teaches ASL to Daniel (deaf actor Alban Branton), a deaf boy, and Daniel develops romantic feelings for her; in “The Wild Boy” (S9E5-6), Laura and her family teach ASL to Matthew (deaf actor Jonathan Hall Kovacs), a nonverbal boy rescued from abuse, as he rebuilds his life.
